With Lisa Raymond in action at the US Open

US Open, August 31 – Australian Samantha Stosur reached the quarterfinals of the US Open women’s doubles today with her American partner, Lisa Raymond.

Seeded No.10, the multiple Grand Slam doubles champions defeated No.7 seeded sisters Alona and Katerina Bondarenko 7-6(3) 6-3.

They next face Marina Erakovic of New Zealand and Jelena Kostanic Tosic of Croatia. In mixed doubles, Stosur and her partner Mahesh Bhupathi were yesterday defeated by fellow Aussie Rennae Stubbs and Robert Lindstedt 2-6 6-2 [10].

The US Open juniors began today, but Aussie Johanna Konta was bundled out of the first round by USA’s Asia Muhammad 6-3 6-1.

Also competing in the juniors is Matt Reid and Bernard Tomic (seeded No.2), alongside fellow Queeslander Isabella Holland.

    Well done to you and Lisa for winning today against Erakovic and Kostanic Tosic. Semi finals here we go. You guys are just brilliant and I hope you win the US Open and here is hoping that you stay together next year and win all 4 slams that would be just brilliant. I haven’t seen such an exciting pairing since Fernandez and Zvereva, you guys have so much fun on the court.

    Is there any chance of you still qualifying for Doha?
