Sam’s AO2010 blog part II
18 Jan 2010

The eve of the Aussie Open has been one of my most memorable days playing tennis.
Stepping on the court with some of the greatest tennis players in history was quite an honour. Raising money for the people of Haiti being the common goal for all of us.
From what I’ve heard, the day raised in excess of $500,000 so it was extremely successful and wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the people from Melbourne coming out to watch.
My pre-match nerves for tomorrow will be nothing compared to the nerves I had yesterday playing with Roger, Rafael, Serena, Kim, Novak, Lleyton and Andy.
I’m first match on RLA (Rod Laver Arena) tomorrow and am really looking forward to it. Rain, hail or shine we are guaranteed an 11:00 am start because we can play under the roof. Hopefully it’s a bright sunny day and we won’t have to use it though.
Melbourne is well known for it’s great restaurants but I’m eating Japanese for the third time in four nights. I really love Japanese.
I hope everyone has enjoyed day 1 of the Open and I’ll be back with another blog after my first match.
