Sam’s AO2010 blog part II

18 Jan 2010
Sam Stosur

The eve of the Aussie Open has been one of my most memorable days playing tennis. Stepping on the court with some of the greatest tennis players in history was quite an honour. Raising money for the people of Haiti being the common goal for all of us. From what I’ve heard, the day raised in excess of $500,000 so it was extremely successful and wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the people from Melbourne coming out to watch. My pre-match nerves for tomorrow will be nothing compared to the nerves I had yesterday playing with Roger, Rafael, Serena, Kim, Novak, Lleyton and Andy. I’m first match on RLA (Rod Laver Arena) tomorrow and am really looking forward to it.  Rain, hail or shine we are guaranteed an 11:00 am start because we can play under the roof. Hopefully it’s a bright sunny day and we won’t have to use it though. Melbourne is well known for it’s great restaurants but I’m eating Japanese for the third time in four nights. I really love Japanese. I hope everyone has enjoyed day 1 of the Open and I’ll be back with another blog after my first match. Sam

    Hi Sam,
I can't believe how well you're playing and you look so fit and strong. You come up with some awsome shots and I believe you can get into the top ten easily...I hope you believe it too. Nerves seem to tie you in knots at times though so I hope you can somehow manage to concentrate on the point and stop yourself thinking about the fact that you're just about to win. lol.
    GO SAM!!!!

Well done Sammy!!! Great first set and beginning of the second set. Eight sets in a row after a little bit of a shaky start. WOW!!!
Don´t worry about losing the second set, I guess it´s always hard to play an opponent who´s got nothing to lose. But you managed to get through and that´s all that counts in the end. You´re forehand was awesome today.
Have fun in Melbourne. I´m looking forward to seeing you play in the 2nd round!!! Enjoy yourself :o)

    Let's go Sammy, let's go !!!!!
Tough first round but you're through !!!! Yeah !!! :))
Han played a really good match, especially in the second set. Didn't expect that really but first rounds are always difficult (especially against qualifiers) so it was a great win and a convincing final set !!!
Good job Sam and good luck for your next round !!!

Hi Sam, it´s so great that you took part in the charity event for the Haiti victims. There are more important things in life than tennis and you remembered that...
Try to have fun out there on the court in your match on Tuesday. I´ll be there watching you in front of the TV at 1am ;o) Believe in yourself and you can achieve anything you want to!
Best wishes from cold Germany :o) Good luck!!!

It was really a pleasure to see you in this exhibition! Lots of fun!
    You were so shy :-)
"Bonne merde" (good luck) for your fist match as we say in Belgium !

You really did look nervous playing with Roger, Rafa, Serena and the rest but you looked like you were having fun and you looked great =). It's interesting to see that you're playing doubles with Nadia. She seems like an awesome person so I hope the two of you do well.

Anyway, good luck in your match tomorrow. Unfortunately I have school while you're playing so I can't watch but I'll be anxiously praying for you to win. Please win this, Sammy =).
