The women’s part of the Australian open came to a close last night with a tough three-set battle. It was over two hours long and had some great points. Serena was a deserving winner but Justine has put in an incredible effort reaching two finals in her first two events back.

I’m heading to Adelaide on Monday, which is a little earlier than some of my teammates. The reason is that I’m the ambassador for the National Court Rebate Program and I’m officially opening the new courts in Port Lincoln, which is on the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia.

Port Lincoln is famous for its tuna industry and they have asked me to swim with the tuna. Sounds a little scary to me but I’m always up for a challenge!

I’ll return to Adelaide by Tuesday afternoon and will have to get straight back into practice mode for the upcoming tie against Spain. We play the matches on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

It is going to be tough as they have three players all inside the top 30 and one of the top doubles combinations on tour as well. I always enjoy our weeks at Fed Cup throughout the year and I’m sure this will be no exception.

Bye for now,

Sam

Swim with the tuna ????!!!! HAHA !!!!! That's weird, not very common…. Maybe they were just kidding !!! ;) If it's serious, you definitely have to take some pictures, I wanna see that :))

I watched the AO final of course and it was great. Justine's not far from her best, she's gonna be dangerous this season. Serena is definitely number 1, she has this ability to step it up when needed, it's amazing !!! So strong mentally. She totally deserves this title.

You have your chance against Spain, Fed Cup is so different than the other competitions, it's a different atmosphere when you're playing for your country so Spain may be a tough opponent, you have a good team as well, very capable and you're playing in front of the home crowd so who knows?
France is playing against the USA !!! Ouch !!! Tough one as well for us. Our best players (Bartoli, Rezai and Razzano) are not playing so I'm a little worried. Good thing is the Williams sisters are not playing either :) We'll see….

So, are you gonna spoil us again with another blog tomorrow? Come on Sam, you're on the cruising mode now….lol ;)

Heh, I could really get used to these everyday blogs ;). I was rooting for Justine to win but Serena truly was the deserving winner in the end. Allez Justine though. Having you swim with the tuna is very odd, to say the least. It could be worse though, imagine if the 6 feet killer catfish was around. Not that they would make you swim with that thing around but still =P.

Anyway, have fun with that. Can't wait till the Fed Cup. Another match against Maria Jose…yay?

Hope you'll win your matches against Spain … even if I'm a spanish girl ! ;-)

Loving your blogs Sammy, it's so great to have news almost every day of my favourite player!

  • Jaime994

Lol… tuna… you should say ''no'', maybe for the old top 50 player sam stosur who wasn't really famous it's ok, but now you're a diva! Lolz just kidding Sam what I like of you it's that you're so easy going and friendly, not a stupid diva like 90 % of the wta tour, although I must say that you must buy new jewellery, you've been wearing that necklace for at least 3 years!

tuna? strange…..like the rest i'm always happy to read more on your blog. it's a pleasant surprise to see you've a new one. the fact that i'm only ready this today, delayed a few days just goes to show how 'frequent' i visit your website…(pst..not frequent). now with you writing more often, more reason to visit everyday ha ha ha. anyhoo, all the best for the fed cup. we don't get coverage via tv on that here, but will definitely get updates on line.

Good luck at French Sam! If you bring your Charleston game and composure you'll take down all! omg that was brutal perfection there! When you come up against Serena and Justine forget who they are and just pound them like you would a qualifier, put them away;) Get in the zone. Win FO Sam!!
