Sharapova ends Sam’s run

Australian fourth seed Samantha Stosur took a 6-4 6-1 loss to revitalised Maria Sharapova on Monday to exit in the fourth round of the ATP and WTA Miami Masters.

Stosur, who lost the French Open final last year to Francesca Schiavone, suffered with five double-faults and no aces in a contest lasting 81 minutes.

Russian Sharapova refused to give out an early birthday present as Stosur, who turns 27 on Wednesday, was broken five times.

Stosur’s loss left her short of her performances at the last two editions at Crandon Park, where she reached the quarterfinals.

Two-time Miami finalist Sharapova saved three of the four break points she faced as clouds gathered over the stadium prior to possible forecast rain.

She produced her best result so far this year at Indian Wells this month as she played her first semifinal since last August.

Sharapova, who owns three Grand Slam titles, improved to 20-20 against top five players and broke a loss streak against the elite after going down in her last six matches against top players.

That’s bad news :(! Maybe you weren’t mentally ready, because I’m quite sure you were physically ready Sam! From what I’ve read I understood that Mariah did play really good, but It was you who didn’t show good performance, not the performance we are used to, not Sam’s performance! I’m sure the result would have been totally different If you were mentally ready! This is what I really believe.
Anyway don’t ever get disappointed. You still have other tournaments to play and to win! Your fans we’ll always support you. I can proudly say you have the most loyal fans in the world! :)
    Cheer up Sam :)

Don’t lose hold of yourself SAMMI! Just remember to keep focus and relax, therefore you will believe that you can achieve something. Goodluck defending your title in Charleston. Can’t wait to see you play. Remember not to lose control of yourself mentally and physically. Rest and practice as much as you can. You will 1 day beat Sharapova.

Oh….a terrible second set , I don’t think that Masha could beat you like this result , cause when you rallied with her in the begging , it seemed to be quite equal , especially when you sliced the ball lowly just cross the net and it did work out . Sam , you’re an unbelieveable talented player and hard worker , mix all your weapon up to earn every point , no matter whether they’re in your service game or not , be strong !!

I’ve watched match Sam and she was played very well with little mistakes and just don’t let you to play better. On the other side yours game was not so good and maybe tactics is important in this kind of match like Jim said but I’m sure you know that. It is part of tennis game which is more beautifull with you on court so just stay focused for next challenges. However wish you happy birthday Sammy and all best for yours lovely blue eyes. You have all my love and support.

    Hi Sam :)
Really sorry, and a little sad for you. But you played a great 1st set, that you could have won…. I still believe that you should challenge some points. I’ve seen 2 or 3 that were very, very close, in or out, and you didn’t challenge. That, plus the loss of the 1st set, puts in your mind some frustration, and it’s one more thing you have to deal with.
Anyway, you’re a great, great player, and such a lovely woman :)
Allways on your side, Sam :)
    cheers,
    jf
