The conditions were horrible, and Sara used them to her advantage, giving you practically no pace at all on the already slow courts, and forcing you to play well outside your comfort zone. But you remained focused throughout and the result was never in doubt really. You are getting very good at grinding out tough wins like this when things are not going your way, that should stand you in very good stead in Paris. It doesn't get any easier of course. Next up Venus, that's going to be tough for sure. You can take a lot of confidence from your recent win in Charleston though, and although er game is looking good at the moment I think you will have the goods on her again. Something more 2012 not 1950, and please no more dark sneakers they look dirty and faded. Why not try something more colorfull and I think this would give you a sense of belonging with the rest of you competitors and also shock them (possibly distract them) I think that changeing your color scheme to brighter and more up to date fashion will give you far more confidence when on the court. I used to be a competive ballroom and Latin American dancer and my outfits mattered to my performance as they lifted me up. Sam I do hope I have not offended you with my thoughts as I only would like to help you in some way to feel each time you go on court you at least know you look as good or if not better than you opponents and this has an affect on them to your advantage. Azarenka will eventually end up like Sharapova having shoulder problems because she seems to hit a lot of inside out forehands as does Sharapova. It may be possible to beat these players on clay by dropping tricky little slices short and low  on their backhand side and getting them way out of position coming into the net or no mans land.. It's easy for me to say - this is just a thought!  There is no substitute for a well placed deep first or second serve (including those aimed directly at the body)  to give you free points-- as Serena seems to know lately..
